About Identify Medals and Me

Medal collecting has been a popular hobby for at least 150 years. I believe that anyone with an interest in these unique bits of history should have a space to explore and learn as they navigate this vast world in search of the unique human stories behind them.

I try to gather all possible information about awards, badges and orders into one large database available to everyone online. I would like to develop and improve a medal Identifier (I had one but it’s out of order for the moment!), so you can find the name of that medal you just found or have always wondered about. I hope to have more news about it soon.

I run this site as a free educational source and do everything on my own, so things might not always work as expected! I apologize if this is the case.

About the Medal Images

You can learn more about how I crate these images and how you can use them on your project by following this link.

About the Amazon and eBay Links

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. I also sometimes get commissions for purchases made through links in the posts. This is all done automatically when you use a link and at no extra cost to you.

How to Help

Identify Medals was born as a passion project and a way to celebrate the heroic and meritorious actions of people worldwide. I’ve done my best to continuously improve the site, but it hasn’t been easy. So I thought it could be a good idea to open a way of supporting the growth of this project, and Patreon seems like a perfect fit. So, here it is! Identify Medals now has a Patreon! You can check the Patreon page to see my pledges (which include adding support for multiple medal images, complete the database with all remaining countries, produce videos to accompany the articles, and publish more little booklets about medals).

About Me

My name is Yisela, and I’m a social anthropologist + UX Designer. I started IdentifyMedals about six years ago while I was living in Germany. I’ve always had an interest in the history of warfare and its protagonists and I wanted to help people identify awards as a way to keep these stories alive. My goal for this site it to always ensure all information remains free and open.

If you want to support this site, please consider joining the Patreon, purchasing the first ebook or visiting my other projects: medievalbritain.com and aircraftsandwarplanes.com
